There are different kinds of Chinese food in Ottawa, maybe some of them you heard and never been there before. Today, I would like to introduce some traditional Chinese restaurant that you need to try in Ottawa. Maybe some great Chinese food just near your home. Have you ever been to these restaurants before? Are you aware of Chinese food that near you? Get ready to explore? Let's get it.
Firstly, I would like to introduce the Cantonese restaurants as dim sum is famous in the west. Also, I think other Cantonese dishes is worth to try, not only dim sum.
Address: 808 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, ON K1R 6R5
Café Orient HongKong Restaurant is a Cantonese cuisine restaurant. It offers all-day dim sum and many Cantonese dishes, and it opens from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm except Wednesday. It is a great place that you can enjoy afternoon time with your friends and family. The milk tea and lemon tea are the same flavours as those in Hong Kong. It also has many different HongKong snacks. I would like to recommend their fried noodle dishes and Congee, most of them are traditional Cantonese flavour. And those dishes are deserved to try.
Address: 1558 Merivale Road, Nepean, ON K2G 4B5
The atmosphere in Sea King Seafood Restaurant is just like normal Cantonese restaurant, and most waitresses in there speak Cantonese. It opens from 11:00 am to midnight everyday which is a great place for people to have dinner in the late night. It has dim sum that only offers after 7 pm, and some traditional Cantonese dishes like seafood. The location might not be easy to find because the restaurant is in the basement. I like the Crab Meat with Sea Foam and Free Run Chicken that help me to remember of the flavour in my hometown. They will give you their dessert after you finish your meal.

It is the third Cantonese restaurant I would like to introduce to you. All-day dim sum in Yangtze Restaurant is famous in Ottawa. It offers a small moving table to serve you dim sum, so you can choose what you want when the small table come to your table. It opens from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. There are couples big table, so it is a great place for a huge family. The only thing I want to remind you is that it is really busy during dinner period and the weekend, so get there early will be better. I like their Shrimp Har Gow, Spare Ribs and BBQ Pork Bun.
Then, I would like to introduce those Sichuan cuisine restaurants for people who likes spicy food.
Address: 1792 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON K1V 7Y6
There are many different Sichuan dishes and some desserts for us to choose, so it is not a place for chicken balls and egg roll. Since the dine in environment in Small Street Restaurant is not as comfortable as other Chinese restaurants, they offer delivery service. It opens from 3:00 pm to 01:00 am which is a great place for the late dinner. They will refresh their menu based on the season. Food in there is really spicy, so you have to explain your requirement for spicy at first. I am a big fan of Sichuan cuisine, so I like most dishes there.
Address: 1430 Prince of Wales, Ottawa, ON K2C 1N6
I used to go to Delicious Sichuan Cuisine during dinner time. The location is not easy to find which is near the Bank Of Montreal. It opens from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm except for Tuesday. The menu contains many different regional cuisines such as Sichuan cuisine and Shandong cuisine. If you are not the person who like to eat spicy food, it is also a place for you to try. Servers in there are nice, and the speed of food serving is fast. I recommend Hot and Spicy Fish Slices for people who like spicy food, and Deep Fried Sweet Potato with Syrup for people don't like spicy.
6. Liuyishou Hotpot Ottawa
Address: 10-1568 Merivale Road, Nepean, ON K2G 3J9
Hotpot is a type of Sichuan cuisine. Liuyishou Hotpot Ottawa opens from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm. Liuyishou Hotpot is the brand from Sichuan and has the original soup based from there. The material in there is fresh and various. You can also use different seasoning to make your favourite flavour. It offers free fruits and appetizers, and you can take it in the self bar. The waiting time for hotpot is short, so you enjoy your meal immediately. It is the place I would go to when I miss the flavour of hotpot. I recommend the tomato hotpot for those who don't like spicy food.
Address: 3987 Riverside Dr unit 1, Ottawa, ON K1V 1H7
Morals Village opens from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm. It nears the T&T Supermarket. It is another place for hotpot; however, the hotpot in here is All You Can Eat. You can order what kinds of vegetables and meats to put in your hotpot. The material in there is also fresh, and there is free dessert for you. The environment is suitable for hotpot as everyone has their own hotpot. In morals village, you can choose to eat hotpot or noodle soup because there are two different restaurants in the same location. If you don't want All You Can Eat, you can choose noodle soup which is the same material as hotpot.
8. Chinese Dragon BBQ
Address: 1465 Merivale Road B03, Nepean, ON K2E 1B1
Chinese Dragon BBQ is a place for Shandong cuisine. Most dishes in there are from the northern region of China. It opens from 2:00 pm to midnight. The location is easy to find which near the Bulk Barn. Service in there is good and the dishes made quickly. Even though half of the menu is grilled meat , the fried rice and cold dishes are delicious to try. If you want to try the Shandong cuisine, it will be a great place for you. I like the fried rice, House Special Noodles in Sauce and BBQ Tofu Skewers.
